Colleen Holloway is a business consultant to the massage profession
and the author of Success
Beyond Work and the e-book, Massage
Marketing Strategies. In this excerpt from Massage
Marketing Strategies, Colleen offers a convincing case for
joint marketing ventures as a cost-effective way to advertise your
business.
"When you cooperate with another service-oriented business to promote
each other's businesses, you are involved in joint marketing. This
month the marketing page you are reading is a good example of joint
marketing. Colleen sells her e-book through our website, adding to
our offerings; we promote her book for her.
One great way to begin implementing joint marketing in your business
is to partner with nearby businesses to jointly market your services
to people in your geographical area.
For example, for the winter holidays, Valentine's, or Mother's Day,
look around at the businesses near you. Is there a hair salon near by?
You and one or more stylists whose work you admire can swap gift certificates
to sell to clientele.
How about hooking up with a health club or gym? You could give free
chair massage to members on a Saturday morning once a month, giving
you a chance to build your business and giving the gym a chance to offer
this perk to members.
Perhaps there's a business that wants to purchase your gift certificates
at a discount to reward employees or to thank special customers.
Or you could receive a bouquet from a florist once a week for your
office in exchange for your gift certificates they include in special
arrangements. Or perhaps a bath shop will provide you baskets of
goodies to sell to your clients in exchange for promoting and selling
your gift certificates. The ideas are endless."
