November: Your Quarterly Massage Marketing Calendar
Choose Massage Gift Certificate Styles that Match Your Clients

"Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." —Aristotle

According to your quarterly plan outlined in the October's article, November is the month to work on gift certificate sales. Here are some ideas for better ways to market those massage gift certificates with materials that appeal directly to your particular clients.

Who is your Ideal Client?

For your gift certificate sales to reap the greatest rewards, you need to know who you want to bring into your business. Take a moment to address a basic marketing question specialists often ask practitioners: “Who is your ideal client?

Well, what the heck is an ideal client? Let’s find out.

Think about your very best client. How about your best five clients? Ta dah, you’re most likely thinking about your ideal clients. For whatever reason, these are the people you enjoy the most, value the most, and who probably benefit most from what you do.

Or keep it really simple. Just observe what kind of people come in for appointments again and again. What kind of person is tracking you down? Who is making the effort to schedule and come in?

Now ask yourself what these folks have in common. Are they professional men and women who work in the offices around you? Are they passionate about heir sport? Do have young children? Are they mostly male or female? Are most of them retired? Are most of them religious or not? Granted, you are not likely to have only one kind of client. But they will probably fit into a few general categories.

Now ask yourself, “What would appeal to my ideal clients?”

Since it’s time right now to get your holiday gift certificates, make sure you have styles available that appeal to your best clientele. Do you need to appeal to men? Pregnant women and new moms? Yoga students? Seniors? Do your clients tend to be conservative? Or do they talk the new-age lingo and respond positively to the mandala you have on the wall?

You may like hearts and kittens, but if many of your clients are career men and women, then send messages that speak to that mind-set. For example, mail them crisp, clean, promotional postcards that remind them to come in to reduce stress and restore their energy.

By the way, get those postcards mailed before Thanksgiving and give your clients time to add massage to their gift-giving lists!

Choose styles to appeal both to your clients and those they are gifting!

Remember, too, that your clients will be choosing designs to please whoever will be receiving their gifts. So if you specialize in massage for pregnant women and new moms, they may be most interested in giving their partners a chance to relax.

So, yes, you will want to have gift certificates that appeal to family men. In fact, it may help your sales to talk with your clients about who the recipient s are and what might appeal to them.

Choose designs that fit your clients and their loved ones and help them feel even better about passing on your services to friends and family.
