Well it's a relief you seem to be on the same page. You certainly are walking into it at the right time of year. Get on it, darling!

Smart thinking on "What are your expectations?" Seems like that worked for the both of you.

I'm glad she's not inclined to dump you for whatever random reason might come along. I would still put some sort of trial period into the contract, but go with what is comfortable for you.

Also, make sure you will get repaid (somehow) for the amount of effort you will undoubtedly you will be putting in.

I"m very excited for you, Fran. Keep us updated ... when you can. :)

Well Eileen and company just popping in to give an little bit of an up date on my new venture. I took into account everything you shared and it was very helpful. What we have is a spa that sees currently 2 to 10 clients a week. It was not always that way. Reason for this is the Sports rehab service is the main practice and while as I said she really always liked the idea of incorporating a spa service for client she was not able to put full focus in two places for very long.
I also know with the client base since the majority came from the clinic once they where well they forgot about the spa services. They did a spa week which is always popular. Really for the most part things where not nurtured as desired.

SO... one of the main things that I stuck to was the sentence "what are your expectations." This way we were able to line up our thoughts and even things we had not verbalized. Such as the fact that she is not charging market rent for the area so in addition to the rent she was asking for a percentage of the services. Mind you I walk into a spa already fully equipped, phone service, utilities, she is covering insurance within the total practice which includes the spa and other two rooms I have at my disposal, access to her patient list and additional housekeeping services outside of general building maintenance.

Walking in the door at this time of year automatically means parties for me. SO I told her lets start getting drawn up an agreement look it over on each side tweak the tweaking and get it going. Of all things that pay the biggest role here was really what she had in mind. And she did say she has not intention to to come along later and say "well thank you so much for coming. time to go" We have the same vision to build a wellness practice beyond just the occasional spa experience.

Stay tune...
